Seven Lessons from Sadie Joy Rose

Sadie Joy Rose was born at 8:58 AM on Monday, June 11, 2012. We (Louie and I) were absolutely overjoyed when she arrived. Many have asked why we chose her name, Sadie means "princess." Sadie is our precious little princess and more importantly a princess of the King. We want her to know how much God loves her. We chose the middle name Joy because since we found out that we were pregnant, our little girl has brought us nothing but joy. We can tell she already has a gift to be able to bring joy into other's lives. We chose the middle name Rose because over the course of the pregnancy several people brought up the name Rose, Rosie, Rosalyn, all without knowing that someone else had. We loved the name so much that we decided our baby girl would have two middle names.

Sadie has already begun to teach us so much. We thought we would share seven lessons from Sadie, one for each day that she has been in our lives this last week.

Lesson #1 (June 11th, Monday): Unconditional love.
From the first moment we laid eyes on our baby girl we felt such an incredible love for her. We have been talking about how if we feel this way toward her, how much God must love us. Becoming a parent has re-shaped our perspective on His amazing love for us.

Lesson #2 (June 12th, Tuesday): Learn something new each day.
A baby learns SO much each day they are alive. Seeing how much our baby girl is learning, growing and changing each day, really has made us appreciate the opportunities we have to learn new things. We think she is already trying to master the high V (we think she is going to be a cheerleader).

Lesson #3 (June 13th, Wednesday): Take things one day at a time.
One day at a time. One moment at a time. One breath at a time. Our sweet baby girl has reminded us that it's okay to focus on one thing at a time and in the midst of everything it's okay to smile, cry, laugh...it's okay.

Lesson #4 (June 14th, Thursday): Sleep.
Sleep. Rest. Breathe. It's ok to slow down and just be. Turn off the phone, TV, computer every once in a while and turn on the sound machine and sleep. :)

Lesson #5 (June 15, Friday): Surprise people.
Do the unexpected, keep people on their toes.

Lesson #6 (June 16, Saturday): Keep things simple.
Don't try to do everything and be everything to everyone. Keep things simple and just enjoy where you are at and who you are with. The to do list will still be there later.

Lesson #7 (June 17, Sunday): Each moment is precious.
Treasure each moment, each smile, each breath. Time goes by so fast, make sure to pause and celebrate and appreciate the little things.
